In 1977 Bing Crosby sat down to record what would be his last album, “Seasons.” On the album he chose to include songs with a theme from each time of year winter, spring, summer, and fall. He also included the Charles Aznavour penned song, that was translated into English by Herbert Kretzmer, “Yesterday When I Was Young.” Originally this song was made famous in America by “Hee Haw’s” bluegrass/country legend Roy Clark.

If you’ve never heard the song I’d suggest listening to this. After 50 years in the business Bing’s voice is still crystal clear and he still even hits a high note at the end.

This song was recorded on September 14, 1977. One month to the day, Bing Crosby died on a golf course while on vacation in Madrid, Spain.

Maybe he knew what was to come…or maybe he didn’t. 1977 was a strange year for Bing but we’ll save those stories for another day.
